The Family: A Proclamation to the World
Sunday, July 25, 2010 at 3:54AM The First Presidency and Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
We, the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator's plan for the eternal destiny of His children.
All human beings—male and female—are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.
In the premortal realm, spirit sons and daughters knew and worshiped God as their Eternal Father and accepted His plan by which His children could obtain a physical body and gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection and ultimately realize his or her divine destiny as an heir of eternal life. The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally.
The first commandment that God gave to Adam and Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife. We declare that God's commandment for His children to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force. We further declare that God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.
We declare the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God's eternal plan.
Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. "Children are an heritage of the Lord" (Psalms 127:3). Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, to teach them to love and serve one another, to observe the commandments of God and to be law-abiding citizens wherever they live. Husbands and wives—mothers and fathers—will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations.
The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Disability, death, or other circumstances may necessitate individual adaptation. Extended families should lend support when needed.
We warn that individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God. Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets.
We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society.
This proclamation was read by President Gordon B. Hinckley as part of his message at the General Relief Society Meeting held September 23, 1995, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Sunday, July 25, 2010 at 3:15AM I really wish people who want to argue with me about meditation, psychic projection, God, angels and demons would actually read what I write! Nothing is more irritating than someone misconstruing something that is written right in front of them!
And by the way, if you've come back to tell us about your "death experience," it's a Near Death Experience! Otherwise, you couldn't write me about it!
Purity: the abandoned ideal
Monday, July 12, 2010 at 7:41PM
This is a repost of an article originally written on April 25th, 2010.
I host a spiritual internet radio show on Blog Talk. I strive to have a female co-host so that the male and female perspectives are both represented. So as you can imagine, I am keenly aware of when other psychic shows with a male / female team come along.
Recently such a show premiered. The woman was a friend on Facebook and the guy was someone I did not know. But they were both attractive, wholesome, intelligent looking people, so I intended to listen. I am a good, entertaining host, but I can always learn more.
I was completely appalled when they announced the topic for their premiere show: "Should you have sex on the first date?" Now I realize we live in the age of instant gratification with no personal accountability. But I could not believe that the woman, a supposed psychic, would even consider the topic!
I have been in the psychic business for 15 years. And granted, there are some people in the industry who try rationalize one-night stands and random hookups. But most psychics are well aware of the overwhelming heartache and pain that infidelity and promiscuity cause. We live in an age, unfortunately, where many woman attempt to imitate the absolute worst behaviors of men. Some people are even warped enough to call this 'liberation!"
Since when did we allow the fashion gurus and supposed cool people to redefine 'liberation' to mean desensitizing your body and deadening your heart? What about love, tenderness, loyalty and companionship?
I realize we stopped crafting real men in America a long time ago. But shouldn't we be encouraging men to be better men; faithful, loving and devoted, instead of killing their incentives for this by having random hookups and sex on the first date?
The question doesn't even need to be asked because the answer should be a resounding, "Hell no!"
Now, I understand that some of you may be thinking I'm a little archaic and old fashioned. However almost every survey I have ever seen states that most women still want marriage and commitment. Most of the exceptions I have come across have been discouraged women who simply no longer believe that such a relationship is possible anymore. While I sympathize with them, I cannot agree with them. There are good men out there.
Spiritual development, real spiritual development, is about growth and personal responsibility. Women, for centuries, were the sacred caretakers of all that is holy. They helped shape good men, first at the knee, and then as their companions with their love and devotion. Good women have always softened the harsher aspects of men.
When did purity, the sacred ideal, become so unpopular? We hear lip service being given to spirituality all the time, especially in the new age / self-improvement culture. But since when did we cut off the roots of it? Buddhism is a typical religious philosophy that is popular among new agers. However few people are aware of just how rigorous Buddha's teaching are. You are probably aware that one of the Four Noble Truths taught by Buddha was, "All suffering is caused by craving." Did you know that 'craving' can also be translated as lust?
Now I am not suggesting that we all become priests and nuns. But our desire for love, companionship and our procreative powers need to be handled with care. If we are reckless we will bring unnecessary suffering on our own heads.
Your body is a temple for your Soul and needs to be treated as such. And this holds true whether you believe your Soul is the literal spirit offspring of or a divine spark of God. Real self-love begins with respecting your temple.
Let us shake off modern, 'sophiticated' cynicism and re-embrace an old truth: Purity. Purity of heart, mind, body and Soul!
Resolutely yours,
James
Why MormonPsychic.com?
Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 11:57AM I know some people are asking why on Earth I would design a site called Mormon Psychic.com? Why bother emphasizing one's religious faith when the better business move seems to be keeping one's faith private? There are a few reasons for this.
I am a psychic and would prefer to simply give people accurate psychic information about their career, love life or connect them with their deceased loved ones. However, most of my consultations eventually get to the topic of God and the Afterlife. There are countless psychics out there of Wiccan / Pagan persuasion or the "love and light" crowd who refuse to acknowledge anything as evil, except traditional values and Christianity. They skew their readings by giving politically correct, but vapid answers, to heart wrenching questions. In the name of 'tolerance' they dispense absolutely useless information to clients.
I think it's about time someone stand up for what they are really intuitively getting: traditional values are the most constructive, God lives and is a personal being. He loves us and knows us by name. Jesus is the Christ, whether you want to deny him or not.
Does this mean I cannot give accurate information to clients unless they are LDS? Nope. As a matter of fact, some Latter-day Saints would reject my insights anyway. What it means is that if we go from basic love, career, or family issues to the Afterlife and what happens in the Eternities, you will hear what I received by personal revelation. This personal revelation matches the teachings of the LDS Church and Scriptures.

One of the things that has always irritated me is the animosity between religion and science. These are two branches of the same tree of knowledge. Modern Christianity will never be able to reconcile with science because it has been so corrupted by Greek Philosophy they cannot even conceive of personal God with a body of flesh and bone that actually exists in space / time.
An extract from the translation of the Bible as revealed to Joseph Smith the Prophet, June 1830—February 1831 (Emphasis added)
27 And it came to pass, as the voice was still speaking, Moses cast his eyes and abeheld the earth, yea, even all of it; and there was not a particle of it which he did not behold, bdiscerning it by the cspirit of God.
28 And he beheld also the inhabitants thereof, and there was not a asoul which he beheld not; and he discerned them by the Spirit of God; and their numbers were great, even numberless as the sand upon the sea shore.
29 And he beheld many lands; and each land was called aearth, and there were binhabitants on the face thereof.
30 And it came to pass that Moses called upon God, saying: aTell me, I pray thee, why these things are so, and by what thou madest them?
31 And behold, the glory of the Lord was upon Moses, so that Moses stood in the presence of God, and talked with him aface to face. And the Lord God said unto Moses: For mine own bpurpose have I made these things. Here is cwisdom and it remaineth in me.
32 And by the aword of my power, have I created them, which is mine Only Begotten Son, who is full of bgrace and truth.
33 And aworlds without number have I bcreated; and I also created them for mine own purpose; and by the cSon I dcreated them, which is mine eOnly Begotten.
34 And the afirst man of all men have I called bAdam, which is cmany.
35 But only an account of this earth, and the inhabitants thereof, give I unto you. For behold, there are many worlds that have passed away by the word of my power. And there are many that now stand, and innumerable are they unto man; but all things are numbered unto me, for they are mine and I aknow them.
36 And it came to pass that Moses spake unto the Lord, saying: Be merciful unto thy servant, O God, and atell me concerning this earth, and the inhabitants thereof, and also the heavens, and then thy servant will be content.
37 And the Lord God spake unto Moses, saying: The aheavens, they are many, and they cannot be numbered unto man; but they are numbered unto me, for they are mine.
38 And as one earth shall pass away, and the heavens thereof even so shall another come; and there is no aend to my works, neither to my words.
39 For behold, this is my awork and my bglory — to bring to pass the cimmortality and deternal elife of man.
Give up your faith
Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 12:35PM
I have been psychic my whole life. I do not know what it is like to not perceive the invisible world. I have always know there was more to life and that Jesus is the Christ. I begged my father to take us to Church as a child, but he was too scarred and resentful from his Catholic upbringing to listen.
In January 1995, I'd finally had enough of doing it the 'world's way.' I sought out the only source of light I had seen up until then: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
From the moment I made that decision there has been pressure to give up my faith; especially by fellow psychics. The New Age / Psychic Community, by and large, is filled with social dissidents and haters of everything traditional. With righteous indignation, they rail against 'evil organized religion'. Mormons would agree that what is thought of as traditional Christianity is far from the truth. Modern Christianity has been so severely corrupted by Greek Philosophy, that a restoration was needed. However, the "New Age" movement has thrown the baby out with the bath water! This negative attitude toward organized religion has prohibited psychics and new agers from recognizing that a restoration did take place: in 1830 through the Prophet Joseph Smith.
One of the things I have always found extremely ironic, if not completely hypocritical, is the average new ager's attitude toward Eastern religions and figures. Somehow they are more holy, more righteous and more 'tolerant.' Take for example Sri Aurobindo, often quoted by liberal new agers. There is no doubt some wisdom in the man's words. However he was an Indian Militant and firmly believed that the Hindu faith was superior to all others. Now, while I don't blame Aurobindo for his views, why is he given a pass with his self-righteousness, but LDS Prophets not?
The Dali Lama is also often quoted by new agers. However for all his love and tolerance, the Lama is a Tibetian Buddhist and firmly believes in the rightness and superiority of his religious faith over Christianity. Why is no one attacking the Dali Lama for believing in his faith?
Psychics, especially those raised as Christians, need to take a better look at the revelations God has given Americans and Westerners before they go chasing after strange faiths in foreign lands.
Grand Duchess Anastasia
Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 12:14PM
A customer of mine on Keen brought up several interesting topics recently: one of those was Anastasia.
History tells us that Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia, was executed along with her royal family, on July 17th, 1918. Because of missing bodies, rumors that Anastasia had survived the execution persisted for decades.
Several women have claimed to be the Grand Duchess, including Anna Anderson of Germany. DNA evidence from Ms. Anderson's cremated body in 1994 seems to disprove her claim.
Luckily, Remote Viewing can reveal the truth. Remote Viewing has two advantages: targets can be viewed 'blind' (not know what it is), and asking the right question. One thing you learn very quickly in RV training is how to ask the right question. If you ask the wrong question, you get the wrong answer.
Grand Duchess Anastasia's death circumstances will go into my Blind Target Pool (a collection of targets in sealed envelopes). If the data points to execution by firing squad, then she died as history suggests. If she is an old woman in bed, then maybe Anna Anderson's story has some credibility after all...
Active participation in prophecy
Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 1:23AM Prophecy is precognitive knowledge of future events. However many psychic clients make the mistake of thinking that predictions are final, which in turn, makes them passive and lethargic.
There are some events that are 'predetermined' and unchangeable. Many national events and world events are of this nature. Many historical events were predetermined. However when you get down to the scale of we individual humans, the exercise of our Free Will is often pivotal.
There are a few events throughout someone's life, such as birth, death, marriage, divorce, the birth of children or serious financial or health challenges that may be predetermined. But these are not the subject of most psychic readings and should not overly concern you.
Our Free Will has boundaries: So lets keep this in mind as we proceed through this subject. A few, extreme new age authors teach that we can change our entire life in the twinkling of an eye, just by changing our thoughts. They say we can be happy, wealthy and wise, with little or no effort, if...and it's a big 'if', we can just change our thoughts. Let me assure you this is not the case. We humans have limitations. For example, you cannot go without sleep for very long without suffering ill effects. Nor can you go without food or water for very long without dying.
I know, I know, you've heard the stories about an Indian Yogi who went without food for 40 years and lived! Great! As soon as I can track him down and interview him in person, I might buy that one! For we normal humans, we must eat, drink and sleep. No amount of thought-power will change that. So Free Will obviously has limits.
Mind Over Matter, creative visualization, mental alchemy or manifestation is definitely possible and will be the topic of another blog. However, suffice to say that many modern authors seriously exaggerate the scope and power of it.
Okay, back to prophecy: when a skilled psychic makes a prediction, such as telling you that you will go out on a date with your sweetheart this coming Wednesday, you must make an effort to steer things in that direction. In other words, if you don't want to ask him, as many women don't, you must drop a few friendly hints. Sitting back and 'testing' the psychic and their prediction doesn't work, especially not for the client! You must actively participate in the prophecy. We psychics can see many things, many probabilities. But the exercise of your Free Will is necessary to bring most opportunities to fruition.
It might be helpful if clients understand that by contacting a skilled psychic about a situation, be it love, children, health, or career, the 'normal' flow of events has already been altered. Precognitive information changes events because it changes you. So you might as well make that change a positive one and actively participate in creating the future you want.
Cassadaga - A Piece Of Spiritualist History
Friday, May 14, 2010 at 7:09PM In 1875, George P. Colby and T.D. Giddings, two Spiritual Mediums, took a train from Wisconsin to Jacksonville, Florida. At the end of this rail line, they began to search for an area familiar to Colby through a vision. This vision was not just an idea, but an actual image given to him by his Native American Spirit Guide Seneca. George Colby settled the area, but continued to travel the country as itinerate medium. In 1880 he filed for a homestead grant and in 1884 was awarded 145 acres. Years later, in 1894, assisted by members of Lily Dale, Colby organized the Southern Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp Meeting Association.

This had been the culmination of events that started with Colby's baptism into the Baptist church at age 12. This event seems to have opened the flood gates of Colby's psychic abilities. In his spiritual awakening he learned that he had three primary Spirit Guides; Seneca, The Philosopher, and The Unknown.
Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp is situated between Daytona and Orlando. It is imbued with a strange energy that is difficult to describe with conventional language. It it almost as though you can hear the continuing work of the spirits that have passed on there. It is easy to find, being just off Interstate 4. Clearly marked signs lead the way.
Upon entering the Camp, a change in the atmosphere is perceptible. It is a pleasurable sensation. And the term 'camp' is a misnomer because it is really more of a village. One of the first places you are likely to see is the main bookstore located at the corner of Cassadaga Road and Stevens Street, which is also the information center. It is an amazing place filled with books, candles, jewelry, CDs, oils and incense. My friend and I encountered employees of the bookstore, Rayna and Carol. Rayna was a pretty, bubbly young woman who was truly in her element. Carol was a volunteer at the Camp and training to be a Certified Medium. Both ladies were full of practical information and entertaining stories.
The village currently has 52 homes within it's 57 acres of land. It is ironic to wander around Cassadaga, realizing that you are walking through someone's neighborhood. Despite this 'intrusion' residents are friendly and open!

We were lucky enough to also meet with Anita Evans, the Camp Historian. Anita, like all the residents of Cassadaga, was an intriguing and engaging personality. She hails from a long line of mediums herself and seemed to be eminently suited for her position. Her endearing bright purple shirt read, 'got spirit?' Through her we learned that the Camp is going on it's 116th years of operation, providing readings, teaching meditation and the history of Spiritualism.
We were also granted special access to the new museum, which has historical pictures and artifacts from the foundation of Cassadaga. While spiritualism is often ridiculed by the mainstream media, most serious Spiritualists are educated, credible people, including doctors, teachers, and scientists. Some artifacts in the museum were connected to Abraham Lincoln and his personal trance medium, a young woman named Nettie Colburn Maynard. It is rumored that the Emancipation Proclamation was channeled by Nettie!
There are many activities that take place at the village, which include Sunday Spiritual Services, meditations, and healing circles. This Saturday, May 15th, there is the Color My World event! Admission is free! There will be many vendors, including food (my favorite), historic tours, free introductory lectures and $20 mini readings with Certified Mediums! You will probably see me there, just don't expect me in a suit!
In July, Victorian Tea Seances will be held there and on Friday, October 30th and Saturday, October 31st Haunted Halloween takes over the Camp. You can expect some harmless, ghoulish fun! From November 1st through December 13th, Joan Piper collects teddy bears as holiday gifts to needy children in Volusia County. So please help the Spiritualists of Cassadaga make this the best season ever for children in need!
You can find out more about the Camp by going to www.cassadaga.org or by calling the information center at 386-228-2880. It is open from Monday through Saturday, 10AM to 5PM and from 11:30AM to to 5PM on Sunday.
Follow up
Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 8:54PM What if the Divine Feminine that many New Agers want to explore today has it's roots in reality? What if original Christianity taught that Heavenly Father also had a divine companion: Heavenly Mother? Would that surprise you? Might it also surprise you that the word used for divinity in Genesis is Elohim? Elohim is a plural term. So Genesis 1:1 should read: In the beginning the Gods created the heavens and the earth. Have you ever noticed that Geneisis 1:26 reads: And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness? Who is "us"?
My point in this is that earthy mothers, like eartly fathers, are modeled off heavenly patterns. Remember the old hermetic axiom, "As Above, So Below. As Below, So Above"?
Maybe folks in the psychic community should respect motherhood as divinly designed?
Heavenly Mother and earthly mothers
Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 8:51AM A car accident happens in California, and thousands of mile away in New York, a mother knows her son as been critical hurt. A young mother impulsively stops a Doctor from administering penicillin to her child for an infection; only to find out later the child is allergic to the medicine and it would have killed him. A child is told to stay away from a man in her neighborhood by her normally friendly mother only to discover later the man is a registered sex offender. A young woman, heartbroken over her boyfriend's rejection, commits suicide. While on the Otherside she is shown her two unborn children. Despite wanting to pass into the Light, she fights her way back to her body to face shame and humiliation...for her children. Such is the power of Motherhood.
"Women's Intuition" is strongly aligned with the maternal drive. Fathers, for as good a protector and provider they may be, cannot do what mothers can. The psychic connection between mother and child is legendary.
Almost everyone who was lucky enough to have a good mother knows their impact, emotionally, spiritually, cognitively, viscerally. Yet over the past 30 years motherhood, that Sacred Institution, has been under constant assault. It has been minimized and devalued by many who seem to think that motherhood is beneath women. How wrong they are.
Can a man sooth a child's troubled heart with tender words and an angelic voice? No. Only the soft touch of loving mother can do that. With her quiet divine femininity, she can nurture and heal like no other. If men are given angels in human form, the first ones they meet on earth are named "Mommy."
Many studies have conducted about the destructive effect of fatherlessness; certainly because it is more common. Few have been commissioned about motherlessness. Mothers rarely, if ever, leave. And why is that? Some will claim it is hormonal and chemical; and there certainly may be some truth to this. However, I believe it goes much deeper than that.
Could it be that mothers, in regards to child rearing, character development and nurturing are men's spiritual superiors? Could that psychic connection make them divinely prepared for shaping the future? I believe so.
In the psychic / new age community today there is thrust to regain the 'lost feminine.' I wonder if those in the psychic community today know that original, primitive Christianity embraced a Heavenly Mother as well as a Heavenly Father. For where has there ever been a father without a mother? It might surprise many that the word used for divinity in Genesis is Elohim? Elohim is a plural term. So Genesis 1:1 should read: In the beginning the Gods created the heavens and the earth. Have you ever noticed that Genesis 1:26 reads: And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness? Who is "us"?
Indeed, Heavenly Mother was washed out Christian Theology, not purposely by early church fathers, but by Roman persecution of the 2nd and 3rd century. Add to this the importation of Greek philosophy via the Romans and the apostasy and corruption of Christianity was complete. Our Heavenly Parents where replaced by Aristotle's 'Unmoved Mover'. But that is a topic for another article...
My point in this is that earthy mothers, like earthy fathers, are modeled off heavenly patterns. Remember the old hermetic axiom, "As Above, So Below. As Below, So Above"?
Let us in the psychic community re-embrace the power and beauty of motherhood. Let us show the reverence and respect that is befitting of mothers. They shape the future with every tender caress. And make sure you thank your own mother for the life she gave you through her own body.
